ARCO Announces Patent-Pending Z-Config Feature for Zeus Regulators

A secure, user-friendly solution for in-the-field configuration and firmware updates

[Pensacola, FL] – [10/28/25] -- ARCO is proud to announce the launch of Z-Config, a new patent-pending feature designed to revolutionize how alternator regulators are updated and configured in the field. The Z-Config feature empowers OEM end users to safely perform targeted configuration and firmware updates without requiring access to OEM protected regulator settings.

Background
Zeus alternator regulators are designed to deliver precise control and adaptability across a wide range of electrical systems. For recreational vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), configurations are standardized to match their specific system requirements and locked behind a settings PIN to maintain consistency, safety, and warranty integrity.

Historically, Zeus regulators have been configured at the factory before installation. This approach ensures each unit is optimized for its intended system, but it also limits flexibility once the vehicle is in use. When an update or adjustment to the configuration becomes necessary, performing that change in the field has traditionally required technical access or dealership support.

Introducing Z-Config
ARCO’s new Z-Config feature introduces a secure and convenient way for end users to perform configuration and firmware updates in the field—without requiring access to manufacturer-restricted (PIN-protected) settings.

With Z-Config, users can initiate updates externally to the regulator’s locked settings interface. Each authorized user group receives a unique, private alphanumeric Z-Config code that validates the update process. When the correct code is entered, the corresponding configuration and firmware files are automatically retrieved from ARCO’s secure database and written directly to the regulator.

Availability
Z-Config is currently available to Zeus OEM end users and is intended for use only when a configuration or firmware update is required and issued by the manufacturer. Access will later be extended to all Zeus regulator users, enabling default configuration uploads when applicable.
